Organisation Overview

The Sewerage and Infrastructural Development Corporation of Goa Limited (SIDCGL) was incorporated on 22nd February 2001 under the Companies Act 1956. The organization became dormant in the year 2005. Later the organization was reactivated on 14th January 2008. SIDCGL is a Government of Goa undertaking operating under the administrative control of the Urban Development Department, Government of Goa.

Mandate and Objectives

The primary mandate of SIDCGL is to develop, operate, and maintain sewerage and infrastructural facilities across the state of Goa. The Corporation is committed to ensuring safe, efficient, and sustainable sewage treatment and management in the interest of public health and environmental protection.

  • Planning, designing, constructing, and operating Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) across Goa
  • Developing and maintaining sewerage networks and infrastructure in urban and semi-urban areas
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental standards for sewage treatment and disposal
  • Undertaking infrastructure projects related to water supply and drainage
  • Promoting sustainable and eco-friendly sewage management practices
  • Coordinating with central and state government bodies for funding and project implementation

Key Functions and Responsibilities

SIDCGL performs a wide range of functions to fulfil its mandate of developing sewerage infrastructure in Goa:

  • Infrastructure Development: Construction and commissioning of Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs), pumping stations, and sewerage networks across the state
  • Operations & Maintenance: Operating and maintaining sewage treatment facilities to ensure continuous and efficient functioning
  • Project Management: Planning and executing large-scale infrastructure projects in coordination with Central and State Government bodies
  • Tendering and Procurement: Issuing tenders and managing procurement for civil, mechanical, and electrical works related to sewerage infrastructure
  • Quality Assurance: Ensuring quality standards in construction and operation of sewerage infrastructure
  • Environmental Compliance: Monitoring effluent quality and ensuring adherence to pollution control norms prescribed by regulatory authorities
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Working with local urban bodies, Panchayats, and other agencies for implementation of sewerage schemes

Major Projects

SIDCGL has successfully commissioned and operates multiple Sewage Treatment Plants across Goa including:

  • 15 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant at Panaji
  • 7.5 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant at Colva
  • 15 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant at Havelem
  • Various sewerage network projects in North and South Goa

Organisational Structure

SIDCGL is headed by a Managing Director and is governed by a Board of Directors comprising senior officials of the Government of Goa. The Corporation has technical, administrative, and operations staff responsible for managing its diverse portfolio of sewerage infrastructure projects and facilities. Vision: To be the premier organisation for sustainable sewerage infrastructure development and environmental protection in Goa.

Mission: To plan, develop, operate, and maintain state-of-the-art sewerage infrastructure that ensures safe disposal and treatment of sewage, promotes public health, and protects the environment for the people of Goa.
